Bicycle safety?

Being from Inuvik, I never questioned why kids seem to despise wearing helmets while riding their bicycles.
After years and years of riding the streets of Inuvik, I find myself in a position where I am promoting the use of helmets in the community.

When you think about it, wearing a bike helmet isn't that big of a deal. They aren't too expensive and I feel that any family that can provide a bike for their kid, should also get them fitted with a proper helmet.

It's enforceable under town bylaws that every bike rider should have a helmet on, or his mode of transportation gets taken away, it's as simple as that.

I wish I could cruise the streets of Inuvik and see every kid wearing a helmet, but that seems to be wishful thinking...
